ARNOLD D. SISON
M.Sc. Student (joined the Gunasooriya Lab, Fall 2023)
B.Sc. Chemical Engineering, University of Oklahoma, USA, 2023
Born in Norman, Oklahoma, Arnold has been interested in engineering since high school, taking an Introduction to Engineering course. From trying to design bridges from lollipop sticks and understanding how water filters work, he has always sought to figure out how the world works. Arnold’s passion for science took him to the University of Oklahoma, where he got his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering and graduated with honors in May of 2023. He also did Honors undergraduate research for one semester with Dr. Jude Okolie, helping publish a paper titled “Process modelling integrated with interpretable machine learning for predicting hydrogen and char yield during chemical looping gasification”. Through that, he developed his interest in catalysis research and started his graduate studies at the University of Oklahoma Fall of 2023. In the Gunasooriya Lab, he is working on microkinetic modeling for electrochemical reactions and establishing catalyst design principles. In his free time, Arnold enjoys playing the trombone, watching basketball, and loves all sorts of food.
